Newcastle United supporters offer mixed response to Martin Dubravka's Manchester United loan

Newcastle United supporters have thanked Martin Dubravka for his fine performances over the years as the Slovakian completed a loan move to Manchester United. The 33-year-old had been expected to compete with Nick Pope for the number one spot at St. James' Park, but has signed a season-long loan with the Red Devils.

The move has shocked Magpies supporters who have questioned the loan. David De Gea is the current number one at Old Trafford and is expected to hold onto the spot, despite a poor start to the season.

Eddie Howe's side have put a recall clause into the deal in January, to cover any injuries later in the campaign. The loan is set to cost the Red Devils £2million and further £6million obligation to buy if certain clauses are met.

Here's what Newcastle United supporters had to say on the move:

@spuggy25984 said: "Disappointed to lose Dubravka but wish him all the best at Man Utd."

@NUFCLucy said: "I don’t get it though he’s leaving here cos he is on the bench and he’s only gonna be on the bench there. Anyways good luck Martin."

@mike_fowler_17 tweeted: "Newcastle would’ve been relegated without him over the last few seasons. He’s been an amazing player for the club. It’s a shame to see some fans turn on him, cause he’s give everything for the club. Wishing him all the best!"

@joeljackson89 said: "Doesn't want to compete with Pope for the starting place at Newcastle but rather sign for Man United and sit on the bench this makes no sense, so don't bother coming back."

@Chris_Toon78 said: "Done a great job for us but can’t understand moving from one bench to another. Good luck."

@GavinCree tweeted: "Been a superb servant for us. If he wants to leave then good luck to him; nothing but high praise for him."
