Newcastle United supporters 'blown away' by 'superb' Aston Villa win

Newcastle United continued their incredible run of form on Saturday afternoon with a dominant 4-0 win over Aston Villa at St James' Park.

While there were plenty of stoppages in the first half due to injuries to Villa's Emiliano Martinez and Emi Buendia, Callum Wilson's penalty put the Magpies up 1-0 heading into the break.

After the interval, and what was a stop and start first half, Eddie Howe's side finally began to flex their muscles.

Another goal for Wilson was quickly followed up by a Joelinton strike to make it 3-0 to Newcastle on 59 minutes, with the Magpies in cruise control.

Not to be left out of the goal scoring party, in-form winger Miguel Almiron then bagged another for Newcastle with a delightful curling finish to add their fourth of the afternoon.

And the scoreline could have been even greater had Wilson and substitute Jacob Murphy hit the crossbar and post respectively.

The result means Howe and co now sit third in the Premier League.

And Newcastle fans have taken to social media to give their take on the Magpies impressive 4-0 win...

Excellent game, well done guys — Lorraine (@Filanskitten)

Absolutely bullied Villa today. Another clean sheet. What a goal by Almiron...again! Tite, were you watching? And i think no player in our team has hit the frame of the goal more times than Murphy. Delighted with the result. Welldone lads... — NUFC For Life (@hrcrtrvl360)

After an impressively solid first half, that second half performance was simply stunning. Our current wonderful form has been built on a really strong defence, but we’ve added creativity and decisiveness in attack as well now. Entertainers and containers! — Steven Miles (@milessteven001)

Blown away by that second half. That was honestly superb. We made them look like a team of boys. The football we were playing was unlike anything I’ve seen in years from us. The work rate and the desire to win the ball back even at 4-0 up- amazing! 1 defeat in 13. We’re back — Tyne Takes (@tynetakes)
