Newcastle United's latest loan target could spell end of Jesse Lingard transfer hopes

Newcastle United have identified Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson as a late loan target in a move which could block a deal for Jesse Lingard.

That is according to the Manchester Evening News, with the Magpies limited to loaning just one player from a rival Premier League club.

Newcastle's approach for Lingard has broken down in recent days due to the Red Devils' insistence on a hefty survival bonus, reportedly in the region of £12m.

The former Sheffield United loanee was due to start the season as the Red Devils' number one, but the recent form of David De Gea has led the 24-year-old to push for a mid-season exit.

Ralf Rangnick is said to have turned down a request for a loan exit before the window opened, but Ajax are also reported to have made contract with the goalkeeper's representatives.

If Newcastle go on to secure a loan deal for Henderson, it would mean the Magpies would either have to move on from their interest in Lingard or broker a permanent deal.
