Newcastle United's Entertainers set for emotional reunion to raise money for Tiny Lives charity

Newcastle United's legendary Entertainers team are set for a reunion later this year.

An event, that will raise funds for the Tiny Lives charity, will see Rob Lee, John Beresford, Keith Gillespie and Steve Howey meet fans at the Grand Hotel in Gosforth on Friday 8, April 2022.

The four stars were a huge part of Kevin Keegan's team in the 1990s and came within a whisker of winning the Premier League title.

Featuring an auction, raffle and two-course meal, the charity event - organised by friends and NUFC fans Les Hancock and Terry Sweeney - will be a smart-casual dinner event aimed at all supporters of the team.

Beresford said: "I’m really looking forward to it myself, Keith Gillespie, Rob Lee and Steve Howey will head to Gosforth Park where we’re going to have a few reminisces and some entertainment to go with it.

"We’re going to be telling some funny stories; things you’ve probably never heard before.

"It’s going to be humorous, let’s put it that way!

"It’s all for two fantastic causes; Tiny Lives Trust and Wallsend Boys Club.

"I really can’t wait and I hope to see you there"

The evening is dedicated to the memory of Brian Paddison, a popular Newcastle businessman, charity fundraiser and passionate Newcastle United fan.

All proceeds from the event are to go straight to Tiny Lives Trust and the legendary Wallsend Boys Club which has nurtured the talent of many NUFC players.

Both these local charities rely on public donations in order to continue their excellent work in the North East.

Wallsend Boys Club has produced over 80 professional football players since its formation, including Alan Shearer, Alan Thompson, Steve Bruce, Steve Watson and Michael Carrick.

The youth club is still very much active today and plays a vital role in the North East’s sporting community.

Since 2011, the club had used recreational parks and community pitches for its training sessions, but after receiving over a million pounds in funding from the Football Foundation, the FA and North Tyneside Council, the Wallsend Boys Club now has its own facility with two senior sized pitches and five junior sized pitches.

Mr Sweeney was a former manager and committee member at the football club and, with such close ties to the charity, he was passionate about raising money for an institution very close to his heart.

He said: “Wallsend Boys Club is close to me and always will be.

"Although I’m no longer on the committee I still want to support it.

"The club is wanting to expand and go to the next level so any money that we make from the event will be split equally between the club and the Tiny Lives Trust."

*The Tiny Lives Trust is a Newcastle-based charity which helps more than 800 premature and ill newborn babies and their families each year.

It offers a safety net for parents of premature or sick babies providing a range of practical, emotional, medical and financial support for the families at the Neonatal unit in the RVI.

The NUFC Legends Charity Evening is sponsored by Pin Point Recruitment, a Gateshead firm founded in 1998 by Alan Findley.

Over the years PinPoint has expanded and developed its services to become one of the UK’s leading and fastest-growing recruitment companies.

*Tickets for the NUFC Legends Charity Evening are priced at £45 and can be purchased from Les Hancock 07779841293 or Terry Sweeney 07968 126622
