Newcastle United players headed to Jesmond on Tuesday to celebrate making the Champions League next season by rucking into what have been regarded by many as 'the best burgers' in the city.
United went into Mo9nday night's final home game of the season against Leicester City knowing that, after what happened between Aston Villa and Liverpool on Saturday, they just needed a point to secure Champions League qualification.
A full house awaited Eddie Howe's men as they walked out onto the pitch under the lights at St James' Park but, things didn't go entirely the way the squad or the Magpies faithful hoped or expected to. The final score was 0-0 and that was only thanks to a killer save from Nick Pope right at the death to earn NUFC the single point that was required.
Keeper Pope was amongst the group who headed to Jesmond's Osborne Road a day later,. to toast making Europe's top tier tournament with a meal at Brack Burger, the business started by brother Joey and Ollie Brack as a takeaway in lockdown and has since spread to having multiple sites in the likes of Ouseburn and Gosforth, as well as at Osbornes in Jesmond.
Joey and Ollie uploaded a photo of themselves with a string of well known United stars with Callum Wilson, Elliott Anderson, Matt Targett, Mark Gillespie, Jacob Murphy, Paul Dummett, Fabian Schar and Sean Longstaff all heading along.
Brack Burger, who launched a special Dan Burn creation earlier in the season, got some more acclaim under their belt at last month;'s hotly contested Battle of the Burger at Wylam Brewery, when they were named Judges' Choice for the second year in a row.
