Newcastle United notes: Magpies send delegation to USA to crank up presence across the pond

Newcastle United have sent a delegation to the United States as part of their drive to push their presence across the pond.

United will play three matches in the States this summer with games against Chelsea, Brighton & Hove Albion and Aston Villa in the Premier League summer series. Toon chiefs flew over to America this week with the party including CEO Darren Eales while legend Nobby Solano has travelled as an ambassador.

Solano will follow in the footsteps of legends like Alan Shearer and Shay Given who have been involved in previous trips. United supremo Eales is back in Atlanta where US-based fans will attend a breakfast event for the game with Leeds today.

White has been training with Newcastle’s senior squad this week due to depleted numbers with Matt Ritchie out for the season with a knee injury and Sean Longstaff struggling with a foot issue. White has his eye on pre-season with Eddie Howe taking the summer to review some of his fledglings.

White missed out on the trip to Austria last season because of a groin injury. Having watched Elliot Anderson nudge ahead of him in the pecking order he will be doubly determined to impress, not least with Lewis Miley also pushing hard after signing a professional deal.
