Newcastle United notebook: Free transfer considered & supporters offered Fulham refund

Newcastle United have spent the week looking at speedy former West Ham winger Amadou Diallo.

The 19-year-old was released by West Ham in the summer and had been training with Chelsea as he looked to secure his next move. However, after the Blues opted against a deal Newcastle have been more than happy to take a look.

Diallo played 54 minutes of the 1-1 draw in Premier League 2 away to Middlesbrough at Bishop Auckland and Newcastle will now consider whether to extend the trial further. Diallo is part of the CAA Base agency which also represents Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood.

Diallo is a winger who can play wide on the left or the right and has seven caps and three goals for the England Under-17s.

New boy set for January loan deal

Incoming teenager Garang Kuol is being lined up for a winter loan after the World Cup after securing his move to Newcastle. The Magpies fought off competition from Barcelona to land the exciting forward.

Eddie Howe held face to face talks with Kuol this week in a deal that went smoothly for the Magpies.

When asked about Kuol's next move, Howe said: "I'd say, at the moment, the plan would probably be, and these things can change, to go on a loan spell from January where that is, I've got no idea.

"'We're working through various options, but things can change regarding his involvement in the World Cup if he's selected. There are lots of moving parts to that one as well."

Newcastle offer sweetener to supporters who missed out on Fulham tickets

United's allocation of 2,300 at Fulham today was oversold according to a number of fans who had planned to go to Craven Cottage. Fans were contacted by the ticket office and told of the bad news and unfortunately after extra costs had been incurred for hotels and trains.

There are no trains from Newcastle to London today with Central Station closed for business due to strikes. Many fans arrived in the capital on Friday night and will return on Sunday with many trains sold out on the journey back making it an even more expensive away trip than usual.

But Newcastle have pledged to refund fans on travel costs and offered them first pick on any away game of their choice in the future.
