'Best person in industry' - Newcastle have FFP and kit sponsor edge after £60m Arsenal deal
Newcastle United playing in Australia? It is only a matter of time. CEO Darren Eales has already joked with Eddie Howe that the commercial boost from such a tour could enable the Newcastle boss to sign the additional player he wants next summer as the club look to boost revenues to comply with Financial Fair Play.
With Peter Silverstone now on board as chief commercial officer, far-flung voyages will certainly be on the cards if the Scot's time at Arsenal is anything to go by. David Adams reported into Silverstone as Arsenal's senior commercial manager and planned pre-season tours in the US and Asia as well as exhibition games and commercial activity in the Middle East. As far as Adams is concerned, Silverstone will 'know the value' of Newcastle 'very quickly' when it comes to breaking into the international market.
"Peter knows it all starts with the Geordies and the Newcastle fans domestically but there's a big opportunity, particularly if the club moves forward on the pitch in performance terms and can rise up the Premier League," Adams told ChronicleLive. "The importance of building that fantastic Newcastle brand overseas will be a big focus for him.

"He's the best person in the industry to look at that international market. He's got great experience from his time before Arsenal as well putting on exhibition matches around the world and strategically aligning those with rich fanbases overseas.
"Newcastle will have one of the best in the business for that. That will play into his strengths. He's really well-connected with the promoters around the world and really well-connected with the top clubs. Piecing those together and putting on some showpiece events for Newcastle overseas will be a big focus."
Newcastle chief Darren Eales on Miguel Almiron 'dream' and tribute to Eddie Howe for player 'buy in'
Newcastle United CEO Darren Eales has heaped praise on Eddie Howe for unlocking Miguel Almiron's best form in a black and white shirt.
Almiron was actually Eales' first signing after he kicked off the MLS franchise at Atlanta United before his £21million move to Newcastle in January 2019 for a club record for the American side. Eales watched on as Almiron scored 21 goals in MLS to grab the attention of Rafa Benitez.
With Almiron now in form and the countdown to his current contract expiration at two years the duo could be on board at the same club for some time yet. Eales is finding his feet as CEO but Almiron - at 28 - could be ready to commit his peak years to the club.
Newcastle United have banked more points so far than last two teams to qualify for Champions League
Only once since 1997 have Newcastle United had more points in a 38-game Premier League season after 12 matches as they do now.
Having banked 21 points so far, Eddie Howe's side trail Alan Pardew's class of 2011/12 by four points which underlines what a mammoth and sometimes under-rated job the ex-Crystal Palace boss achieved at St James' Park that season. It was 10 years ago that Pardew led his team to fifth place but Howe's current team has picked up more points than Sir Bobby Robson did in 2001/02 and 2002/03 when the Magpies finished fourth and third.
Although, there's still some way to go before fans can dream of nights like Feyenoord and Juventus again. With 26 games left though the current Toon team have given themselves a platform to emulate the team of 20 years ago.
Jack Grealish's surprise response to Miguel Almiron jibe backfiring predicted
Jack Grealish will be 'laughing' after seeing his jibe about Miguel Almiron backfire. That is the view of BT Sport pundit Rio Ferdinand, who reckons the England international will not be 'triggered' after being outperformed by the Newcastle United star so far this season.
Almiron continued his fine streak in front of goal with what proved to be the winner in the 2-1 victory over Tottenham on Sunday. The winger is now just two strikes away from matching his best return in a black-and-white shirt.
Almiron's remarkable improvement has come just five months on from being made a social media punchline by Grealish. The viral video during Manchester City's title celebrations saw Grealish joke that Riyad Mahrez had to be withdrawn during the decisive final-day win over Aston Villa for 'playing like Almiron'.
Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has January message as transfer talk hots up
Eddie Howe says that Newcastle United will assess their options in the January window during the World Cup break.
The Toon boss has played down transfer talk going into a crucial period just ahead of the tournament that sees six points up for grabs and a place in round four of the League Cup. And only after the encounters with Aston Villa (h), Southampton (a), Chelsea (h) and Crystal Palace (h), will Howe sit down with sporting director Dan Ashworth and chief scout Steve Nickson to talk recruitment.
Howe said after beating Spurs: "We're not currently looking at January. When the Premier League breaks for the World Cup that will be the time when I will have a look.
