Bookmakers place Eddie Howe among the favourites to become the next England manager. The pressure has cranked up on Gareth Southgate’s long-term position after a dismal Nations League campaign.
No win in five leaves the Three Lions - who are relegated to League B - bottom of Group 3 and in poor form heading into the World Cup. Any decision on Southgate’s future will likely not be made until after the finals in Qatar.
Talk of a new England manager comes just 10 months after the FA extended Southgate’s contract until Euro 2024. Bookies are already taking odds on who the next man in the hot seat will be, with Betfair making Graham Potter the front-runner at 5/2.

However, the former Brighton boss has barely got his seat warm at Chelsea having arrived at Stamford Bridge earlier this month. Newcastle United fans will be fearful about Howe being named as second favourite at 4/1.
The 44-year-old also penned a new long-term contract recently and his stock has risen since taking over at St James’ Park last November. Amanda Staveley has previously outlined her ambition to see Howe become “next Alex Ferguson” on Tyneside.
Other candidates include Mauricio Pochettino (5/1), Steve Cooper (6/1) and Frank Lampard (11/1). Anybody who fancies a long shot can get Jose Mourinho or Pep Guardiola at 33/1.
