Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe has confirmed that the Magpies are not close to completing any further January signings, amid interest in Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard.
As reported by the Manchester Evening News earlier this week, Newcastle have signalled their interest in the out-of-favour United ace and would like to sign him on loan for the remainder of the season, as they look to bolster their chances of avoiding relegation to the Championship.
The Magpies, who recorded their first away win of the season on Saturday, beating Leeds United 1-0 at Elland Road, are understood to be working on a deal to sign the England international, with United's only hope of securing a fee for Lingard this month being via him going out on loan, just as he did 12 months ago when he joined West Ham United.
