Newcastle United are among a host of clubs interested in signing Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope this summer. Chronicle Live understands Pope is on the list of Newcastle targets but will face competition from Southampton, West Ham United and Nottingham Forest.
Having said that, with Southampton set to sign Gavin Bazunu from Manchester City, West Ham set to turn Alphonse Areola’s loan move into a permanent deal and Forest closing in on Dean Henderson, the Magpies could have a free run at him. Burnley, though, who were relegated to the Championship after their final day defeat to Newcastle, value him at around £40 million.
That price would need to drop to invite interested parties in making their move, however Pope’s representatives are thought to be working hard to secure him a move away from Burnley. Pope is an established member of the England set-up and will be keen to be playing Premier League football ahead of the World Cup later this year.
