Newcastle United headlines as national media hail Eddie Howe's Magpies 'the disruptors'

Here are your Newcastle United evening headlines on Sunday, 13 November .

'The disruptors of the Premier League' - National reaction to Newcastle United's Chelsea triumph

Newcastle United extended their unbeaten run in the Premier League to 10 games on Saturday evening with a 1-0 win over Chelsea.

Joe Willock's sublime second half strike was enough to give Eddie Howe's side all three points at St James' Park, meaning the Magpies remain third in the table heading into the winter World Cup break.

In truth, Chelsea rarely threatened Newcastle keeper Nick Pope. The Magpies were deserved winners on the day, continuing their incredible campaign which has seen them go toe to toe with the Premier League's elite on multiple occasions.

There's every chance Howe and co will be fighting for a European spot come the end of this season and it will certainly be interesting to see how the club attack the next transfer window given they could still be in the Champions League places when January comes around.

Grealish not forgiven, Potter can't decide, Cucurella's SJP welcome - Moments you may have missed

Newcastle United moved to within two points of Premier League champions Manchester City on Saturday with a well-deserved 1-0 win over Chelsea.

Joe Willock's first-time beauty was enough to give Eddie Howe's side their fifth consecutive win in the top flight before the winter break. Newcastle had to hold on in the closing stages as seven additional minutes were somehow awarded at the end of the spectacle.

The Magpies dug deep and angered Chelsea in the final moments, with a small scuffle breaking out after the full-time whistle. There was plenty going on during the 90 minutes of action at St James' Park on Saturday afternoon.

Former England right-back makes ‘too early’ claim on Newcastle United’s Champions League hopes

Glen Johnson has claimed any talk of Newcastle United reaching the Champions League is premature. An astonishing start to their campaign has the Magpies in third place, having lost just one game - a controversial defeat to Liverpool - all season.

Expectation levels are rising on Tyneside and supporters are already fantasising over European trips returning after a nine-year exile. Given the underwhelming start by Liverpool and Chelsea, fans are starting to believe a special season is in the offing.

Eddie Howe has been keen to manage the optimism at St James’ Park, insisting the Toon camp are just “happy” with where they are in the table. Talk of European possibilities, which seemed far-fetched not long ago, is inevitable given Newcastle’s promising start.

However, former England and Liverpool defender Johnson has refuted suggestions United will make the top four.
