Newcastle United player ratings as Saint-Maximin turns in stellar performance in Man City draw

Nick Pope 9

May have conceded three goals but was on fire at times. Some last gasp saves to deny City on a day in which he faced 21 shots.

Kieran Trippier 8

Would have been a travesty of justice had he been sent off. A wonderful free-kick and a stunning display on the right.

Fabian Schar 7

Threw himself in the way of everything. Battled hard but may feel he could have done more with some of the goals.

Newcastle United 3-3 Man City: Eddie Howe's battlers go toe-to-toe with Premier League champions

Sven Botman 7

Put through his paces. May learn more from this game than a victory.

Dan Burn 7

Shunted to left-back again. Some timely blocks and only left the pitch after being knocked to the ground.

Joelinton 8

Another monster display in midfield packed with interceptions and challenges.

Bruno Guimaraes 9

Raised the bar again as he played this game like a Champions League final. Controlled the game and walked tightrope after yellow card.

Joe Willock 6

Gave it his all but not much came off for him. Howe took him off with quarter of the game left.

Allan Saint-Maximin 10

Made two first half assists and won free-kick for third goal. One of his best games for United and could have taken his assist tally up a notch had Almiron converted great chance.

Miguel Almiron 8

Applauded off. May have missed an early chance but made up for it with the equaliser. His work-rate can't be faulted.

Callum Wilson 8

A wonderful strike to put Newcastle ahead before the break. Made things happen and was always looking for more. Great effort

Subs

Sean Longstaff 6 (for Willock 68 mins)

Chris Wood 5 (for Wilson 68 mins)

Jacob Murphy (for Almiron 82)

Emil Krafth (for Burn 90)
