Newcastle United's team for tonight's match against Everton was perhaps the most anticipated of the season as it provided the opportunity for Eddie Howe to give his new look first-team its debut run out.
Although the injured Callum Wilson would surely be a part of the 'best XI' going forwards, the match against Frank Lampard's Everton was the first time Howe could name what looks highly likely to be the team Newcastle are looking heavily rely on in order to steer themselves clear of relegation in the second half of the Premier League season. However, only one of the late January signings was brought into the starting XI.
Matt Targett comes straight into the team at left back as Howe looks to be continuing with his 4-3-3 formation but Bruno Guimaraes will have to wait before joining Jonjo Shelvey and Joelinton in midfield as he starts on the bench tonight. Dan Burn also starts on the bench as Jamaal Lascelles and Fabian Schar continue at centre back.
