Newcastle United face another Arsenal battle after Mykhaylo Mudryk transfer admission

Newcastle United continue to keep a close eye on Ukrainian superstar Mykhaylo Mudryk but may be forced into another transfer battle with Premier League rivals Arsenal when it comes to securing his signature. The Shakhtar Donetsk attacker was already on the radar of big some clubs in the summer but has started the season in flying form on the domestic, European and international stage.

Chronicle Live understands Newcastle are one of many clubs keeping tabs on Mudryk's progression with the 21-year-old expected to be a very popular target when the winter window rolls around. However, after beating Arsenal to the signing of Bruno Guimaraes back in January, the Magpies face a big ask to persuade Mudryk to snub the Gunners if they come knocking.

Mikel Arteta's side were keen in the summer but opted against making an official bid for the youngster. Since then, Mudryk has been asked about a move to the Premier League, specifically to the red half of north London, and admitted it would be almost impossible to turn down a move to Arsenal if the opportunity presented itself.

"Yes, I think every player dreams of the Premier League," Mudryk told CBS Sports. "It’s hard to say but Arsenal is a very good team, very good coach. I like the way they play. From my side I can’t say no [to Arsenal] but a transfer is not just up to my decision."

Everton launched a bid for Mudryk over the summer but failed with their late offer to Shakhtar. Meanwhile, Arsenal are said to have baulked at the £26m price tag just a few months ago.

The winger has since flourished on the big stage and may demand an ever higher figure in January should performances continue. Newcastle are desperate to strengthen in attack after failing to land an extra wide man in the final stages of the summer market.
