Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe admits he has injury concerns to deal with following the 3-3 draw with Manchester City on Sunday.

The Magpies manager is likely to make a number of changes for the trip to Tranmere Rovers in midweek after a tough clash against the Premier League champions.

Kieran Trippier has revealed he apologised to Kevin de Bruyne following his overturned red card in Newcastle United's thrilling draw with Manchester City. The Magpies stand-in skipper also confirmed he had to pull rank on Fabian Schar to score his latest free-kick in front of the Gallowgate End.

Eddie Howe's side rallied from behind to take a two-goal advantage over the Premier League champions - only for City to earn a point at St James' Park on Sunday.

First-half strikes from Miguel Almiron and Callum Wilson gave United the lead at the break, and Trippier doubled this with a stunning set-piece to beat Ederson from distance.
