Newcastle United can offer Timo Werner the minutes he so desperately desires this season. The Chelsea striker, 26, is the latest attacking name to be linked with a move to the Magpies this summer, with reports in his native Germany suggesting Eddie Howe's side are among clubs interested in pursuing a deal.
Werner wants as much game time as possible in the coming months to ensure he is part of Hansi Flick's Germany setup at the Qatar World Cup in November. As such, the former RB Leipzig forward has hinted at a possible Chelsea exit.
“I could be happy everywhere. I think of course the manager always has different ideas, different thoughts and what you need in different games, I think in many games I was not in his thoughts so I try to change that," he said last week.

“It is clear I want to play more and I should play more to first be in good shape for the World Cup and also, to have a chance to play at the World Cup. I think it doesn’t change anything whether it is a winter world cup or in the summer. I think if I play half or the season or the whole season, I should play.”
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel didn't seem too happy with Werner's comments, admitting he would personally be 'one of the happiest people on the planet' if he had a contract at Chelsea such as Werner's.
Chronicle Live approached Werner's German-based agency, who look after Fabian Schar's affairs, on Tuesday but they refused to comment on the player's future. Other European suitors will be circling for the ex-Bundesliga man this summer as the Blues look to strengthen their attack with new recruits.
Chelsea have already signed Raheem Sterling this summer and were keen on Raphinha before his move to Barcelona. They may also have to fit Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Werner into their plans this season.
Howe is desperate to sign attacking firepower this summer and Werner is someone who certainly fits the bill and would walk into Newcastle's first-team. The player's wages could provide a stumbling block in any negotiations but his reported price tag stands at £33m, which is within Newcastle's budget at present.
