Here is your latest 4am Newcastle United transfer digest.
Diaby's transfer wish
Moussa Diaby was strongly linked with a move to Newcastle United last summer, but ended up staying with Bayer Leverkusen. The France international enjoyed another productive season, registering 14 goals and 11 assists for Xabi Alonso's side.
Newcastle remain in the market for a wide forward, with reports suggesting Eddie Howe is keen on a move for Leicester City star Harvey Barnes. However, the Magpies' interest in Diaby remains according to German outlet Bild, and the player himself is said to be keen on a move to the Premier League.
The report outlines the 23-year-old is 'aiming for a move to England', and Leverkusen's decision to sign Jonas Hofmann has been made with the expectation the winger will depart in this window. The price tag could prove to be an obstacle however, with a demand in the region of £51 million potentially proving too much for Newcastle's remaining summer budget.

Chelsea' Franca talks
Like Diaby, Matheus Franca is another name who has been consistently linked with a move to St James' Park. Reports suggest the Magpies have even had one offer rejected by Flamengo for the Brazilian prospect.
However, it looks as though Chelsea have taken the lead in the race for the 19-year-old. The Blues are expected to land Santos' talent Angelo Gabriel this week, and are backing this up with a 'fresh round' of talks with for Franca.
That is according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who claim Flamengo are hoping to strike a deal worth at least £21m.
