Newcastle transfer rumours with 'enquiry' for Sevilla star and 'move' made for Championship star

Here is your latest 4am Newcastle United transfer digest.

En-Nesyri enquiry

Anthony Gordon was brought in as a versatile forward following the January exit of Chris Wood, with the former Everton star currently playing as a striker for England under-21s. Eddie Howe also faced a selection dilemma in the closing stages of last season due to the form of Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson, with the former shifted to a left-wing role.

However, that has seemingly not deterred Newcastle from considering the addition of another specialist striker this summer. Youssef En-Nesyri is a new name to consider, with the Magpies making an enquiry for the Sevilla star according to the Sunday Mirror via the Boot Room.

The Morocco international has previously been linked to West Ham, and netted 18 goals in all competitions last season. The report states En-Nesyri is keen on a move away from the Europa League champions this summer, and the 26-year-old has a valuation of £17 million on Transfermarkt.

Wharton battle

Sandro Tonali is set to complete his transfer to Newcastle in the coming days, with the Italy international currently on duty with the under-21s at the European Championships. The departing AC Milan star will provide quality and depth to the Magpies midfield, with another offensive option in the form of either James Maddison or Dominik Szoboszlai also said to be on the radar.

In addition to Tonali however, Newcastle have already made a move for Blackburn Rovers' rising star Adam Wharton, according to Sun journalist Alan Nixon. The England under-19 international impressed in his debut campaign at Ewood Park, but is also the subject of interest from Everton.

Writing in his Patreon column, Nixon said: "Everton are already looking at signing a new midfielder to replace Onana and have Blackburn’s outstanding Adam Wharton in their sights. Newcastle have already made a move for Wharton but Everton may match the valuation and give him a better and quicker chance of playing in the Premier League."
