Newcastle splashed out £94million in January to begin their Toon revolution and plan to carry on spending this summer.
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has tried to manage the fans' expectations by saying they need to be "smart" in the transfer market, perhaps a message to selling clubs that they will not let themselves be taken advantage of. But Newcastle still plan to be busy as they build on January signings, like Bruno Guimaraes, to continue the club's development.
Howe may plead for patience, but he will be expected to build a squad capable of challenging for Europe next season as Newcastle and their Saudi owners take the second step in their development. Mirror Sport has the round-up of the latest transfer news and rumours.
Paqueta could cost a packet
The Newcastle Chronicle claim Lyon's £58million asking price for Brazil star Lucas Paqueta presents Newcastle with a dilemma. Eddie Howe claims he must spend his summer budget wisely this summer and paying £58million for attacking midfielder Paqueta would swallow up a sizeable chunk when he wants to strengthen his defence. Paqueta would be interested in joining Newcastle and has already visited his former Lyon pal Bruno Guimaraes on Tyneside this year. Guimaraes is a big draw for Paqueta, but Howe will carefully weigh up all his options this summer before moving in the transfer market.

Koulibaly path clear
Newcastle's chances of landing Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli have been boosted by Aston Villa's withdrawal from the bidding according to Calcio Mercato. Koulibaly has rejected Napoli's offer of a new contract and looks set to leave this summer because he is entering the final year of his deal. The Senegal defender is attracting interest from Spain and Italy, but Newcastle have the financial muscle to outbid them and boss Eddie Howe wants a top-class centre-half. Napoli would want around £30million if they do cash in on Koulibaly and this is well within Newcastle's budget.
City full-back link
Newcastle have been offered the chance to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko, claims The Athletic. Zinchenko, 25, can leave City this summer and has attracted interest from Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, who worked with him as Pep Guardiola's No 2 at the Etihad. The versatile Ukrainian has also been reportedly offered to Newcastle and Everton and the Toon are in a strong position if they did want to sign him. Boss Eddie Howe is looking for a left-back and Zinchenko is the right blend of age and experience.
