Newcastle transfer gossip with Harry Kane claim and 'talks continue' for Brazil wonderkid

Here is your latest 4am Newcastle United transfer digest.

Kane claim

Newcastle United are grappling with the limitations of Financial Fair Play, but that has not stopped Stan Collymore tipping Harry Kane with an unlikely move to St James' Park. The pundit believes the England captain would be a 'match made in heaven' with the Magpies, and would not be surprised to see Eddie Howe's side attempt an ambitious deal.

He told Caught Offside: “Kane will have to decide if he wants to be a lifer at Spurs or if he wants to try a new challenge. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Newcastle try for him in a few months’ time, especially if they’re still flying high and challenging for a spot in Europe themselves. I think he gets on very well with Alan Shearer too, so there’s a good foundation there already.

“Don’t be surprised if Kane and Newcastle are a match made in heaven, but again, I don’t want that to detract from Spurs’ managerial problems, which look to me, to be pointing toward a return for Mauricio Pochettino.”

Franca talks

Howe has confirmed the Magpies are likely to loan out Garang Kuol in this window, with the A-League wonderkid completing his switch to Tyneside this month. The Australia international is the latest rising star to be recruited, and Matheus Franca is the latest youth target to be linked.

Newcastle reportedly opened talks with Flamengo over the festive period according to 90min. However, these negotiations were paused while the Brazilian side appointed former boss Vitor Pereira.

However, these talks are now said to have continued and the Magpies have increased belief that a deal can be reached for the 18-year-old. Newcastle have reportedly missed out on Andrey Santos and Maximo Perrone in recent weeks to Chelsea and Manchester City respectively.
