Newcastle United have reportedly made a bid for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher as they search for midfield reinforcements. The 22-year-old spent last season on loan with Crystal Palace and impressed to draw the attention of multiple Premier League clubs.
Palace are said to be interested in the star alongside West Ham, but Newcastle have now joined the race, according to 90min.com. The Blues academy graduate made a strong impression at Palace last season, scoring eight goals and providing five assists and making his England debut.
He did not start his side's first game of the season but did come off the bench, and with the rumours of Frenkie De Jong's imminent arrival, there may be even fewer opportunities for the youngster. With the levels of interest in the player, a permanent move with a buy-back clause could be an option for the Chelsea hierarchy.

With a place in the Qatar World Cup squad at stake, the U17 World Cup winner from 2017 will be hoping that he can play as much first-team football as possible in the build-up to the tournament in November. However, it is believed that Thomas Tuchel does have first-team plans for the midfielder, so it may be up to him to push for a move should he so desire.
With Mateo Kovacic, Ngolo Kante, Jorginho, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ross Barkley all competing for two spots in midfield already, someone may have to make way with the arrival of De Jong. With his high transfer value and Premier League interest, it may make sense for the Surrey-born midfielder to leave this summer, albeit with a long-term future at Chelsea very much a possibility,
