Newcastle set to make Nicolas Pepe decision which could affect Arsenal's Youri Tielemans chances

Arsenal's summer transfer window has been on that has focused on two aspects- the future and now.

Realistically, only Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira and soon-to-be new signing Oleksandr Zinchenko are three acquisitions that are projected to make an immediate impact to Mikel Arteta's starting XI as they look to right the wrongs of last season with that top four heartbreak still fresh in mind.

Looking forward though, and the purchases of Marquinhos, Auston Trusty and Matt Turner are signings more aimed at the future and in the case of the two Americans- ones that will also make a positive impact off the field outside of England. But more may be needed still in different areas still if the Gunners are to make real improvements to their Premier League finish last time out of fifth place and the raising of funds could be the key to that.

Despite shifting the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and significant others in the last January transfer window, David Ornstein of The Athletic has reported that wages and transfer fees need to be generated if Edu was to follow through on interest for other transfer targets this summer like Leicester City's Youri Tielemans.

With none of Arsenal's midfielder's set to leave with Zinchenko set to further bolster them in the middle of the field, the only way the Belgian may seal a move to north London seems to be if the budget was to allow for a luxury-type purchase to be made late on before the September 1 deadline.

Man United's interest in the Foxes star whose entering the final year of his deal at the King Power Stadium could prompt Arsenal to move fast in trying to generate funds. Alternatively, it could do the opposite but priority number one going forward for Arteta as confirmed after the Orlando win is to trim down his bloated squad.

"I don't know, it's what we have today, and as well we have a large squad, so we have to make some decisions on the players that we're not going to be using consistently and be fair and straight with them, and that's a process that's going to start very soon, as well," he said after the 3-1 victory regarding the potential of any more signings.

"We have to. We have a big squad, and now we have to make things happen."

Could Pepe be one of those of the immediate transfer selling list? Whilst it's unknown just how desperate Arteta is to cut ties with the Ivorian, the general consensus is that it could be best for all parties to separate after this big £72m move from Lille just hasn't worked out to date.

Newcastle United, who are aiming to make at least one marquee signing this summer amid Alexander Isak links, have been name-checked as a potential destination for the winger who has made a total of 112 appearances in the red and white of Arsenal to date.

This is according to Give Me Sport, via HITC which states that the Tyneside based-club view the 27-year-old as 'attainable.' Pepe's signing would provide depth and cover and competition for star player Allan Saint-Maximin and others as Eddie Howe looks to increase the level of his playing squad in an organic fashion with the funds available from the Saudi PIF ownership structure.
