Newcastle United's chances of survival took a huge blow after a 1-1 draw with Watford in what was labelled a 'must-win game.'
With Leeds United next, the need for new faces this week at St James' Park is a must - and it's understood that there is the confidence of at least two new faces coming in before Saturday.
On the latest episode of The Everything is Black and White Podcast , our chief Newcastle United writer Lee Ryder joins host Andrew Musgrove to discuss the result against Watford, the damage to United's survival chances, and the transfer window.
Asked if he thinks Newcastle can still survive the drop, Ryder replied: "Yeah, I do - I said something similar on the podcast in December, and I still think they can.
"It's so tight at the bottom that they can pull away from danger and they have enough games left to do that.
"It is worrying, the points tally they are on but in terms of games in hand for the other teams - yeah it's something we have to keep an eye on but they have to get results from those games.
"It's that old adage, what would you rather have? The points or the games in hand? There are not many points on the board for Newcastle, so that is a concern but overall I still think they can come out on top and stave off the threat of relegation."
The pair talk about the confidence that two new faces will arrive on Tyneside this week, as well as the debut of Chris Wood, the impact of Kieran Trippier and what the future holds for Jamaal Lascelles who has come in for some criticism from fans after his display against Watford.
