Newcastle's Stack is preparing to go out with a bang when it holds a major Bank Holiday party to celebrate its last day.
The popular Pilgrim Street venue will serve its final customers over the May Bank Holiday weekend before closing for good at midnight on May 2. The site is set to become the home of a new office block that will house 9,000 staff from HMRC.
The food, drink and shopping hub, which is made up of shipping containers, opened four years ago to bring new retail and leisure operators to the city centre. Last month drinkers were quick to share their disappointment at the news the venue would soon be closing, but now Stack has promised a weekend of music and entertainment to see it go out on a high.

Stack has announced that it will be holding a 'closing party' from 10am until midnight on its last day, May 2. People can expect live music, entertainment and food throughout the day.
Live music will also be on offer over the course of the long weekend. Stack has confirmed that on Saturday, April 30, The Houndcats Trio, the Lewis Curry Trio and DJ Aarron Robson will be performing. Newcastle United's match against Liverpool will also be shown on the big screen at 12.30pm.
On Sunday, May 1, John Gatenby, The Maverick Rejects and DJ Aarron Robson will be performing.
Announcing the closing party on Facebook, Stack Newcastle said: "Join us for the final day of Stack Newcastle! There will be live music and one of your favourite Stack events might even make an appearance.
"So come along and celebrate with us for one last time before we close at Pilgrim Street."
Last month, Newcastle City Council hinted that a new Stack site in the city centre could be in the pipeline as operators look at an alternative location.
Cabinet member for Development, Neighbourhoods and Transport, Coun Ged Bell, said: “While always intended as a temporary development, Stack became an extremely popular addition to the city centre diversifying its offer and bringing back into use vacant land which had become an eyesore. This site forms part of a much larger area that in time will bring significant economic benefits and jobs to the city.
“We understand that the operators of Stack are looking at an alternative site in that part of the city centre.”
