Newcastle United are closing in on a move for Reims French starlet Hugo Ekitike. The Magpies saw a bid accepted for the 19-year-old back in January, but the young forward turned down the chance to move to St. James' Park.
However, Eddie Howe's side have now agreed terms with the forward, fending off interest from Arsenal for the striker. Reports claims the Magpies are still in the hunt for another forward, but the arrival of Ekitike could put an end to Newcastle's pursuit of Dominic Calvert-Lewin of Everton.
Luke Edwards of the Telegraph, claims the Magpies have been quoted in excess of £40million for the Toffees striker, while Brentford are saying the Toon would need to cough up something similar for Ivan Toney. The Magpies new owners have already warned rivals they won't be held ransom over incoming signings.
