Newcastle spent over £90million in the January transfer window, but it wasn't enough for some.
The Magpies were expected by many to break the bank for a number of players in January following their £300million Saudi takeover in October.
And despite being in the midst of a relegation battle, they duly splashed the cash, going big on proven Premier League players and the Lyon star Bruno Guimarães.
Around £40million was splashed on Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood within the first two weeks of the window, before another potential £50m was spent on Guimarães and Dan Burn. Matt Targett also arrived on loan.
But speaking to talkSPORT, player-turned-pundit Darren Bent admits he has been underwhelmed by the transfer business of his former side’s biggest rivals.

He said: “I am a bit underwhelmed. I thought a little bit more will be coming in at Newcastle.
“All the talk was superstar players, we knew that was never going to be the case.
“But when you talk about the unlimited budget Newcastle have got…
“I thought that they would be throwing money here, there and everywhere and getting in as many players as they can.”
Jesse Lingard and Dele Alli were both strongly linked with moves but deals couldn't be agreed in time, especially with Manchester United for Lingard.
And Bent feels as though these are the players who should have ended up at the Magpies.
“The likes of Jesse Lingard, who needs to go out and play football,” he continued. "Dele Alli is another one.
“I thought they would be throwing money [at trying to sign these two]. These are good Premier League players.”
