Families are invited to enter into the festive spirit at a special event at Newcastle Racecourse which has prizes up for grabs for those who do.
Gosforth Park is hosting a Christmas Jumper Raceday on December 17 and is encouraging people to dress to impress. The event is set to include a warm festive welcome for groups of friends or families who can also take advantage of the chance to take along children for free.
And a spokesman said: "Don't forget to dig out your favourite Christmas jumper as there will be prizes on offer for the best ones!" Also adding to the festive atmosphere will be the Winter Wonderland attraction which is currently at the Newcastle racecourse with its additions of fairground rides, ice skating, Santa Claus, a Christmas food market, German Bar and music.

There are tickets on offer which include entry to both the day's racing and the Winter Wonderland for £19. Doors will open at 10am on the day and the first race get under way just before noon, with the last being at around 3.30pm.
In light of the current cost of living crisis and financial pressures which are making life difficult for so many, the racecourse recently announced extra offers and a new pricing strategy for 2023. This will include advance grandstand enclosure tickets priced from £12 and a new Day At The Races package to include entrance, a race card, drink and pie for just £5 more than the advanced ticket price. For full information about what will be available see here.
For tickets to Christmas Jumper Raceday, which also include opportunities to add hospitality packages with restaurant meals, see here. The free entry for children offer applies to those aged 17 and under.
