Newcastle United players were still processing their defeat while departing St James' Park when they were handed an important news flash from the capital.
Whether United felt like they'd slipped up or not against the Gunners, Manchester United showed that every team is vulnerable at this stage of the season by losing to West Ham. Toon players were heading to their cars when they were notified that Saïd Benrahma had put the Hammers ahead.
After a difficult day for Newcastle, the news improved throughout the course of the evening as West Ham's 1-0 win kept United in the top three. If Liverpool are still regarded as Champions League contenders it is surely the Red Devils looking over their shoulders.

David De Gea's fumble to hand West Ham victory was gratefully received by Newcastle over the holiday weekend. But United stars know they must help themselves in the final four games.
Joelinton set to be assessed after bruising day
The Brazilian was involved in a running battle against Granit Xhaka at St James' Park and ended up being subbed. With Sean Longstaff struggling with a foot injury, the former Hoffenheim star may have to be wrapped in cotton wool between now and Saturday afternoon.
Joelinton limped out of St James' Park with what looked like a heavy knock. The good news is Joelinton has the week to recover but Howe won't take any chances with him at Elland Road.
It's still in Newcastle's hands - regardless of Liverpool surge
Despite the defeat to Arsenal, Newcastle know if they win two more games and pick up a point in their last four games, they will be over the line.
Alternatively, if Liverpool drop points that could also make the task easier. Newcastle still have a game in hand over the Reds and can finish the season on 77 points compared to Liverpool's 71.
Newcastle also step up first next weekend at Leeds before Liverpool take on Leicester away next Monday night. It's not done yet, it's also not the time to be hitting the panic button.
