Brighton & Hove Albion have responded to claims that Dan Ashworth won't be allowed to proceed with his new post at Newcastle United - but insist that matters must stay "private".
The Seagulls announced Ashworth's exit back in February and he has since been on gardening leave with huge compensation figures mooted across national newspaper titles. However, Brighton continue to play things by the book and Ashworth may not arrive until November unless an agreement is made.
When offered the right to reply on the Ashworth saga, a Brighton spokesperson told Chronicle Live: "We would not comment on private employment matters."
