A young motorcycle racer from Newcastle has tragically died following a crash at the weekend.

Chrissy Rouse crashed on the opening lap of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship race at Donington Park on Sunday, October 2. The 26-year-old suffered a significant head injury and was treated immediately trackside by the BSB Medical Team before being transferred to the circuit medical centre.

He was placed in a medically induced coma at the medical centre before being transferred to Queens Medical Centre/University Hospital in Nottingham, where he underwent an emergency neurosurgical procedure.
