Newcastle United have confirmed Isaac Hayden has joined Norwich City on loan until the end of the 2022/23 season. The midfielder, who missed the second-half of the campaign through injury, was expected to leave the Magpies this summer after a lack of game time.
Hayden, 27, will link up Dean Smith's relegated outfit as they look to return to the top flight at the first time of asking. Norwich have an obligation to make the deal for Hayden permanent should 'specific performance-related criteria' be met throughout the 2022/23 season.
The former Arsenal midfielder has made 171 appearances in all competitions in his six years at Newcastle United, scoring seven goals in total. Hayden missed out on a place in Eddie Howe's 25-man squad after the January transfer window through injury but is now fully fit and ready to return to the field.

He wrote on Twitter and Instagram: “Another season completed. Started poorly, ended on fire. Takeover done, future is bright for this great club. Personally my toughest in pro football but everything happens for a reason. Thank you for your incredible support this season and over the last six years.”
Earlier this season Howe praised the midfielder, saying: “Obviously, I brought Joe Willock back into the team, and Joe’s someone we really like with his technical and athletic capabilities, but Isaac is also someone who has those strengths in his game and covers a lot of ground. He’s got a great work ethic himself.
"I think competition for places is key in every area. So I think it’s good to have that good spirit within the group, as in everyone’s pushing each other for better performances, and Isaac, when he gets his opportunity in the team, has to impress.”
