Newcastle United are keen on signing Borussia Dortmund winger Thorgan Hazard, according to reports in Germany.
Eddie Howe remains keen to strengthen his side in a number of areas this summer and new attacking options are required if they are to continue their rise up the league table next season. The Magpies have been linked with the likes of Hugo Ekitike, who enjoyed a breakthrough 2021-22 campaign in France.
The Toon Army remain somewhat overreliant on Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson in attack, and Howe wants greater quality in the final third as he looks to build on their fine finish to last term. As such, according to German publication Bild, the Magpies are interested in signing the 29-year-old brother of former Chelsea star Eden this summer.
According to the report, the Bundesliga outfit are prepared to let Thorgan move on ahead of next season if the price is right. It's claimed new Dortmund coach Edin Terzic feels he can do without the Belgian international, who joined from Borussia Monchengladbach in May 2019 for £21million.
Hazard, despite being an important player for his national side under Roberto Martinez - often being used as a wing-back - has slid down the pecking order at the Westfalenstadion in recent seasons. He played just 29 times in all competitions last term and, despite having two years left on his current deal, he will be allowed to leave if the price is right. It's claimed a fee in the region of £13million could be enough for a player who is looking to ensure his place in Belgium's World Cup squad.

The 29-year-old can also be used as an attacking midfielder and looks an ideal fit for Howe’s preferred 4-3-3 system. Newcastle's other wide attacking options include Ryan Fraser, Jacob Murphy and Miguel Almiron.
With the Magpies owners hoping to fulfil ambitions of pushing further up the league table next season and even competing for silverware in the domestic cups, a higher calibre of player is expected to arrive in the coming months at St James' Park than in previous windows, notably under former owner Mike Ashley.
So far, only Matt Targett's permanent transfer has been sealed this month.
