Newcastle United have reportedly made a club-record second offer for Leicester City playmaker James Maddison.
The Magpies have already seen an initial bid rejected by Leicester but are determined to sign the 25-year-old midfielder. Maddison is reportedly interested in making the move to the north east and Newcastle have tested Leicester’s resolve with a second offer which would eclipse the £40million fee they paid Hoffenheim for Joelinton in July 2019.
The Daily Mail says Newcastle have returned with a bid ‘in excess’ of £40m after Leicester pushed back a £35m bid last week. With Kasper Schmeichel leaving for Nice this week, Leicester are interested in Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, opening up the possibility of a cash-plus-player deal.
