Callum Wilson has declared himself fit to play when Newcastle United face Fulham on Saturday but Aleksandar Mitrovic may be nursing a slight knock as he reunites with his former club. Wilson wasn't included in Gareth Southgate's latest England squad after spending recent weeks on the sidelines but now claims to be ready for an eagerly-anticipated first-team return in the capital this weekend.
“We have Fulham on Saturday, which is away – looking forward to that one,” Wilson told The Footballer’s Football Podcast. “I’ve worked hard to get to a point where I’m available for selection. I’ll be working hard this week in training, and then we’ll see where we are at.”
Mitrovic featured in both of Serbia's games over the international break as his country earned Nations League promotion following wins over Sweden and Norway. However, the Fulham hitman was spotted sporting a bandage around his foot as he left the stadium following Tuesday's win.

Mitrovic is said to have suffered a slight knock in the first group game against Sweden before soldiering on for a further 90 minutes against Erling Haaland's Norway. The ex-Newcastle striker found the net in the 2-0 win and will now be assessed by Fulham on his return to London later this week.
The 28-year-old has started the season in fine form as Newcastle continue to rue the mistake of selling him during Rafa Benitez's tenure on Tyneside. Mitrovic enjoyed three years at St James' Park after leaving Anderlecht but failed to hold down a regular place before leaving for the Cottagers.
As for Wilson, the Newcastle forward started the season well before a hamstring injury forced him into another spell on the sidelines. Eddie Howe has also been without Bruno Guimaraes and Allan Saint-Maximin during the same period as his side struggled to find the back of net.
Alexander Isak is the latest Newcastle player to be forced onto the treatment table after sustaining an injury on international duty. The Swede was forced to return to England after only a few days following his training setback and will not face Fulham on Saturday.
