Newcastle fans believe Dan Burn was the star player in yesterday’s crucial win against Aston Villa.
The Blyth-born defender looked solid as a rock on his Toon debut, with his presence at the back helping the Magpies grind out a 1-0 victory.
ChronicleLive readers gave Burn an 8.9 out of 10 rating as his composure at the back gave Eddie Howe’s side the platform to secure all three points.
The next highest was match-winner Kieran Trippier (8.6), who scored another memorable free-kick to send St James’ Park into raptures for the second time in a matter of days.
The England international could have pipped Burn to first place but a foot injury - that will now see him ruled out for six to eight weeks - forced Trippier off the field early into the second half.
Other players that impressed Toon fans were Joelinton (7.8), Fabian Schar (7.8) and Ryan Fraser (7.7), with all three players enjoying Tyneside resurgences since Eddie Howe arrived at the club.
The joint-lowest scores were given to Chris Wood and Emil Krafth - who both received 6.5 as part of our post-match survey.
New Zealand international Wood has struggled to make an impact since making a £25million switch from relegation rivals Burnley in January.
Krafth - who replaced Trippier following his injury - almost cost Newcastle the victory, but VAR saved his blushes after he appeared to keep Villa striker Ollie Watkins onside for the disallowed equaliser.
