Newcastle couple lose baby boy Hero to rare condition which caused his organs to grow in his chest

A couple have been left heartbroken after losing their baby to a rare condition which caused his organs to grow in his chest cavity.

Charlene Henry, 34, and Raymond Fradgley, 35, had to say goodbye to their son Hero Thomas Peter Henry-Fradgley when he was just two days old. He was born prematurely at 31 weeks with his stomach, liver, intestines and bowels on the left side of his chest.

The condition, which is called congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), pushed his heart to the right side of his body and squashed his lungs. It resulted in him suffering from acid in his blood and multiple organ failure.
