Newcastle councillors reject bid to fly Tibetan flag above City Hall

The Tibetan flag will not be raised above City Hall for Tibetan National Uprising Day as a number of Newcastle councillors thought the move could be too politically charged.

Greens councillors Siobhan Isherwood, Charlotte McCabe and Joel Pringle put forward the idea, which would have seen the flag raised on March 10 and a policy developed for flag raising to guide future decisions.
