Over 16,000 children in Newcastle will receive free food vouchers during the school summer holidays.
Newcastle City Council announced the plans as part of its Best Holiday Ever programme, aimed at supporting families most in need during the holidays. The scheme caters for children who are eligible for free school meals and also includes a schedule of events and activities to keep families across the city entertained.
The council have partnered with over 100 providers to offer the Best Holiday Ever programme of activities, including indoor and outdoor games, cookery skills, arts and crafts, sports, fitness and dance, health and wellbeing, quizzes, park activities, nature trails and more, all of which include a healthy meal.
