Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has confirmed Chris Wood is set to join Nottingham Forest on a loan deal.
The 31-year-old is close to completing his move to the City Ground on an initial loan basis. The deal reportedly includes an obligation to make Wood's move permanent if certain requirements are met - the price is in the region of £15million.
Wood has fallen down the pecking order at St James' Park, currently behind duo Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak, making just four starts in the Premier League this season. Howe however, admits it was a 'difficult' decision to make, but respects the striker's wishes.

Speaking to ChronicleLive, Magpies boss Howe said: "I think Chris is having a medical with Nottingham Forest. That’s the situation. Chris has been a huge player for us, I have to say he has been outstanding, in every way.
"When we signed him we were in a very difficult league position. He played a huge part on the pitch and helped transform the team. Then this season he has been excellent on and off the pitch when he’s not played.
"We can’t underestimate the role has played. It was a difficult decision because you have to take into account the player and his wishes. But also I think it’s a very good deal financially for the football club."
