Elliot Anderson has dropped out of the Scotland squad.
The talented midfielder has returned to Newcastle after picking up a knock in training.
The 20-year-old received his first international call-up by Steve Clarke last week.
He is eligible to play for both Scotland and England until he has made a full cap for a country, having represented either country during his youth career.
But it seems that remains up in the air for now, with Anderson being forced to withdraw from the current Scotland camp through injury.
It's understood Anderson pulled up with the knock after training at Lesser Hampden today.
Given the six-hour flight to Cyprus later in the week, the general consensus was to release the player back to his club for treatment.
Clarke's side are preparing to face Cyrpus in their latest Euro 2024 qualifier on Friday evening.
They then take on England in a friendly encounter next Tuesday night at Hampden.
