A newborn baby found on Sunday with the umbilical cord still attached is "doing well," according to local reports.
The baby was discovered in a brown garden waste bin on an estate at about 5pm.
A concerned resident raised the alarm after opening the lid and finding the boy among grass cuttings.
The boy was rushed to the hospital where he remains.
The baby is said to be "doing well" and the young mum is currently being supported by the appropriate services, GrimsbyLive reports.
One resident said: "It is just desperately sad. It’s such a relief the little boy seems to be ok and your heart goes out to the mum. She needs love and support and hopefully, something good will still come from this."
Another told GrimsbyLive: "We saw the boy being taken away by the ambulance crew. We all heard the cries. It is shocking for the woman who heard the cries and found him in the bin. We are all in pieces about this."
There was a large response by Humberside Police and East Midlands Ambulance Service.
At least four police cars and vans were at the scene along with two ambulances.
Police officers were seen conducting house-to-house enquiries and interviewing shocked residents.
Paramedics were on the scene within minutes and a police cordon was constructed.
Residents have described their shock at the major incident in the quiet cul-de-sac.
Another resident said: "We are all in pieces over this. It is a terrible shock."
Another said: "The mum must have been too young to understand or did not want anyone to know she was pregnant. We only hope she gets the care she needs and her baby."
Another distraught resident said: "It was worrying to see all the emergency services go past. I have never seen so many ambulances and police cars.
"Then there were scenes of crime vans."
An East Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We received a call at 4.58pm on June 19, to a private address in Grimsby.
"The caller reported a medical emergency. We sent two crewed ambulances and two patients were taken to Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital.”
Humberside Police told GrimsbyLive on Sunday: "Officers are in attendance at a property on Winchester Avenue following reports of concerns for safety earlier this evening (Sunday 19 June).
"Assistance has been provided to those concerned. There are no issues or risks to the wider community."
The quiet street is home to families and retired people in semi-detached and terraced homes.
