New York woman is excited to walk into Amex airport lounge for the first time—until some men start making fun of her: ‘I already was so insecure’

A New York influencer celebrates getting her first American Express Platinum card by checking out one of the credit card’s exclusive airport lounges. A group of men make a rude comment about her appearance that ruins her mood. She gets her revenge after another member recognizes her.

Influencer Kaitlin Reagan (@kaitlin_reagan) sits in the American Express lounge with a glass of wine, holding her new platinum card.

“I just beefed out with a guy in the Amex lounge. I was actually going to make a video and be so excited. I finally have my first platinum Amex card. I’m so grateful,” she says. But one remark quickly dampened the mood.

What did the men say to her in the Amex lounge?

Reagan says a man and his friend group remarked, “Looks like anybody can get into an Amex lounge now.” She explains that she didn’t dress up like she otherwise would have because her bag was already en route to her destination. However, her flight was cancelled.

She turns around and tells the man, “You’re so corny!” The man doesn’t respond.

Then, karma works in her favor.

“I’m sitting with my plate of food…and one of you guys came up to me and was like, ‘Hey, I’m so sorry to bother you. Can I get a picture with you?'” Reagan recounts. “They watched the entire thing. They shut up so quick.”

She tells her viewers to “sit back and relax and let the universe do its thing” when people disrespect them.

How to get access to the Amex lounge

American Express airport lounges are exclusively for Platinum or Delta SkyMiles cardholders. The lounges offer a more private and upgraded area for members to spend their layovers or to wait to board their flights.

A Platinum Amex card has an $895 annual membership fee, which can make the cost of entering the lounge steep if members don’t take advantage of the card’s other benefits.

Lounge visitors also need to show a valid same-day boarding pass and a government ID in order to enter.

How did viewers react to her story?

In the comments, viewers praise Reagan for her reaction to the rude lounge guests.

“Good on you for earning your status! You deserve to be there regardless of how you think you look. I love how they were shut down when you were asked for a picture!! That was worth missing a flight for!” one viewer writes.

Another says, “I love this for you, sweetheart!! the universe has your back clearly.”

Others assure Reagan that she doesn’t have to dress up to fit in at the Amex lounge.

“I’m always looking haggard in the Amex lounge as does everyone else. Not sure why they are commenting on your appearance,” one member says.

Another remarks, “Real rich people normally dress lowkey , its the fake rich folks that want to dress the part. Sweetie do you & what makes you comfortable!!”

“Girl if that is what you consider looking bad then your thinking is skewed. You are beautiful!!!!” a third tells Reagan.
