The New York Jets have been confirmed as the team who will feature on NFL Films and HBO produced show 'Hard Knocks' - despite them publicly admitting that they had no interest in being the chosen team.
The NFL were forced to chose a team to be on the show after multiple sides had turned it down - including the New Orleans Saints, Washington Commanders and Detroit Lions. New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh stated publicly they hoped to not be chosen, but the league has ignored their wish and will document their pre-season in August.
The popular documentary runs throughout the month and into the first week into September, which airs on NFL Network and Sky Sports in the UK. The show gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at an NFL team during training camp, filming a franchise during pre-season games.
The show has become popular with many fans, with it's final two episodes in particular being a favourite - where certain players followed across the show are told whether or not they'll be making the 53-man roster for the upcoming season, or whether they will be released.
The Jets will be one of the more interesting teams to follow this season after trading for legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers this off-season.
Rodgers was traded from the Green Bay Packers after 18 years with the team, joining the Jets' strongest looking roster in decades while acquiring the legendary quarterback - who won the MVP awards in back-to-back seasons in 2020 and 2021.
But while fans will be delighted with the Jets being the team to be featured, the front office clearly do not feel the same. When asked if the Jets had been selected or would put themselves forward to be on the show, Saleh said: "I haven’t gotten word or anything like that.
"I know there are several teams that would love 'Hard Knocks' to be in their building, we’re just not one of them."
As well as Rodgers, the Jets have interesting characters in Sauce Gardner - rookie defensive player of the year last season, who is already being spoken about as one of the best players in the league. The show may give insight into Rodgers' future, and whether he is looking to play for multiple years or potentially retiring at the end of the season.
