One ring down for New York Jets center Joe Tippmann, and one left to go.
Tippmann tied the knot over the weekend, the second-year player signing a lifetime contract of a different sort. And the wedding comes weeks before the start of a highly anticipated Jets training camp, one where Tippmann and his teammates are expected to contend for a Super Bowl ring.
(Although the ring he got this weekend likely trumps the Super Bowl in his wife’s eyes).
First things first for the Jets is a return to the playoffs. This is the best and most balanced roster the Jets have had since 2010, which was the last time the franchise made the playoffs.
And Tippmann is a big reason for the optimism around the Jets.
A second-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft, Tippmann was named to the PFWA All-Rookie team. He played in 16 games for the Jets, making 14 starts.
If Tippmann can take a step forward in 2024, it would be huge for the Jets, especially given the expectations around the rebuilt offensive line.
