Goodbyes are always difficult, especially when you know it’s going to be the last one. Something similar happened with a man in New York, whose last wish was to have one final meeting with his beloved pets and bid them adios.
According to a WCBS report, the man, named Mr. Spencer, who had been a patient at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, said his final goodbyes to his beloved pets, his German shepherds, Bowie and Nikki. It was made possible by a local rescue group. As aforementioned, it was Mr. Spencer’s last wish to meet his dogs, and the team at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and NYC Second Chance Rescue made sure that it was taken care of.
As soon as the human and the beloved pets met, their reunion was all things emotional. Mr. Spencer petted the canines gently as they approached his bed, and “it was a tearjerker, seeing them get so excited to see their owner,” Jennifer Brooks, the founder of NYC Second Chance Rescue, said in the report.
According to people, Brooks added, “Mr. Spencer would talk about his dogs every day, and they knew how important the dogs were to him. They were the only family that he had."
Reportedly, a few hours after the meeting, Mr. Spencer breathed his last.
Brooks promised Mr. Spencer that she would find a forever home for his beloved pet, and thus, made an adoption profile for Bowie and Nikki. According to their profile, Brooked mentioned that the two dogs must be adopted together.
