Many creatives will feel frustrated looking for work. It can feel like a constant grind trying to promote yourself, network and maintain the relationships you do have, while trying not to sound too desperate. And that's even when you've got the best social media platforms and the best budget freelance setup.
But what if there was another way? Klio Creative is a new South West (UK) platform designed to take the stress out of looking for creative work/hiring creative talent.
The way it works is that freelancers can put themselves forward to take part, and are then vetted, and agencies and businesses looking for creative talent are also vetted. Klio Creative then connects the vetted South West creatives, including designers, illustrators, developers and digital specialists with the vetted agencies and businesses across the UK and further afield.

Is it free? Well, it can be. Freelancers can join the free version, where they appear within the pool, are visible to agencies and businesses and can be shortlisted for briefs, explains Harry Davies, CEO and co-founder.
"Alternatively they can use the premium version of Klio and get access to a brief board with more opportunities, resources, 1 on 1 sessions with our team, events, workshops and promotional support through our social channels."
In terms of agencies, "they can either use our one-time use project system where we take a finders fee if they start working with a freelancer we source for them or an ongoing subscription with different levels of support from us", says Harry.
Klio Creative is open to all different experience levels and also run events. "We will be running a mixture of social, upskilling and network events across Bristol and the South West. These will happen monthly and we kicked things off last year with our freelancer Christmas party," says Harry.
How does Klio Creative help freelancers and agencies?
"There’s an enormous amount of creative talent in the South West, but the way people find and work with freelancers hasn’t really caught up,” notes Harry. “Klio exists to take some of the strain out of freelance life – making work easier to find, relationships easier to maintain, and the whole process more human and sustainable for everyone involved."
More specifically, "Klio helps freelancers to be matched with opportunities that fit their skill sets but we also help freelancers level up their entire creative businesses through our resources, guidance and network," explains Harry.
"For agencies and businesses, Klio offers faster access to vetted, available talent without the noise. We give people back the time to do their actual work rather than going through an unmanageable amount of portfolios and ensure that the freelancer matches the actual skills they are looking for," he continues.
