A popular ice cream farm has opened its own parlour and shop in a pretty Cheshire village. Mobberley Ice Cream company is known for its adventurous flavours as well as unique takes on classic ice creams and is sold at a selection of farm shops across the north west.
Now, the makers have launched their own boutique ice cream parlour and shop in the Cheshire village, at Dairy Farm on Church Lane in Mobberley. It is open daily including all of May's bank holiday Mondays.
The choice of ice cream on offer will change depending on what’s fresh out of the kitchen that day. Customers can expect to see at least ten flavours to choose from with classics like Double Dark Chocolate, Real Raspberry Ripple and Heavenly Vanilla Bean.

But the ice cream company is also known for its experimental flavours. They include "adventurous and unique combinations" like Roasted Cherry and Goats Cheese, Big Idea Oatmeal Stout, Chamomile Chardonnay and even Ube (a purple sweet potato).
Hot and cold drinks will also be served in the parlour along with brownies, ginger biscuits and shortbread – the same ones used in their ice cream and sundaes. Take home tubs will be available for purchase, as well as "proper ice cream milkshakes and sundaes".
Local products used in their ice cream will also be available to buy in the shop to take home, such as honey from Bax Bees, sticky toffee puddings from Jo’s Sticky Toffee Pudding, fudge from The Yum Yum Tree Fudge Company and many others.
The opening of the new ice cream parlour and shop in Mobberley is hailed as a "significant milestone" for owners Brian and Deborah Brereton as the first permanent base from which to sell ice cream. It features outdoor seating to make the most of sunnier days.
The location is also significant because it was at this farm in Mobberley that the ice cream business gained significant growth during lockdown - selling ice cream ‘to go’ at a series of pop-up events alongside the Flaming Gourmand’s BBQ.
The parlour has been built in a converted barn on Dairy Farm on Church Lane in Mobberley, previously the home of Mobberley Brewhouse Tap & Shop.
Brian said: "When we heard that Mobberley Brewhouse were moving to somewhere bigger and the shop was going to be available, we jumped at the chance to take it on! It’s great to be opening our ice cream parlour here at this farm.
"The people of Mobberley have always been so supportive and we have lots of connections with this place. Those days in lockdown when people would come out to buy ice cream, even in the cold and pouring rain; that’s when we made a real connection with this place and the people who live nearby."
The Mobberley Ice Cream Company have been selling ice cream since August 2020 when they launched a lockdown business at Greenoaks Farm in Mobberley. They quickly outgrew the premises and needed a bigger space to make and store the ice cream.
The ice cream business makes over thirty different flavours of hand-crafted ice cream that is currently sold across ten local stockists.
Owner Brian first started the ice cream business after moving to the UK from his native America. He said: "When I first moved to the UK, I asked my wife Deborah to take me to all the good ice cream places.
"But I couldn’t find a single ice cream that tasted great. Most were made using powders and mixes, and just tasted the same as each other. I realised that if I wanted to have some proper all-natural ice cream like I’d tasted in America, I’d have to make it myself!"
One of the unique aspects of Mobberley Ice Cream Company's ice cream is the use of the renowned Emery Thompson batch freezer, imported from America. This state-of-the-art machine allows for the suspension of ingredients in ice cream, which even allows them to include alcohol in the recipes because of the control it provides over the freezing process.
Brian adds: “Ice cream is a happy product. We want everyone to come down to the parlour and be happy. We’d love this to be a place you’ll want to come with your family and friends, rain or shine, to put a smile on your face.”
The Mobberley Ice Cream Parlour is at Dairy Farm, Church Ln, Mobberley, Knutsford WA16 7RA. It is open daily from 9am to 6pm, and on Sundays from 9am to 4.30pm.
