Hit Scots sitcom Two Doors Down is set to return for a seventh series.
Production on the new series of the comedy show is set to begin in summer, bosses confirmed today.
However, the popular series, which follows the trials and tribulations of Latimer Crescent residents, will exit BBC Two in a schedule shake-up.
Instead, the goings on of married couple Eric and Beth Baird, played by Alex Norton and Arabella Weir, will be screened on BBC One.
And Ayrshire actor Graeme Stevely, who's better known in wrestling circles as Grado, is expected to return for filming.
The most recent series and tear jerking festive special featured Christine (Elaine C Smith) with Beth and Eric's loving son Ian (Jamie Quinn) and his wide-eyed fiancé Gordon (Kieran Hodgson) appearing, while ever-positive Michelle (Joy McAvoy) and partner Alan (Graeme Stevely) were joined by Colin, played by Jonathan Watson, and his new partner Anne Marie (Siobhan Redmond).
Co-creators Simon Carlyle and Gergor Sharp said: “We're excited to be spreading our wings and lowering the tone as we introduce BBC One audiences to life in Latimer Crescent.”
Two Doors Down earned record-high ratings for its Christmas special last year, with 2.8million viewing the special across 30 days on all screens.
Head of comedy Josh Cole and BBC Studios executive producer Steven Canny said: “We couldn't be more proud of the success story that is Two Doors Down.
“It's an absolute joy to work on and loved by a large loyal fanbase that have embraced these families and neighbours as though their own over the years!
“We can't wait to get going on series seven and look forward to the move to BBC One.”
Director of comedy commissioning at the BBC Jon Petrie added: “Two Doors Down continues on its understated march towards classic BBC sitcom status with the last series pulling in some of its highest viewing figures to date.
“We're delighted to be doing more and are excited to see the show move to BBC One for a whole new legion of fans to enjoy.”
The comedy, which is filmed in Dumbarton, returned to screens in November last year and saw Siobhan Redmond brought in as Anne-Marie, Colin’s new love interest after Doon Mackichan, who played Cathy, quit.
