New student development and ANPR cameras at beauty spot among major plans approved

A number of developments including new student accommodation in Beeston have been approved by Broxtowe Borough Council. In a meeting planned for May 4, the authority's planning committee will note the delegated decisions from across the borough.

Some of the most notable include changes at Attenborough Nature Reserve and at Giltbrook Retail Park. At the nature reserve, proposed Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras have been given conditional permission, along with a camera pole and payment machine. These cameras use surveillance technology to read license plates and track vehicles where required.

Meanwhile, in Wollaton Road, Beeston, a two to three-storey student accommodation building which will accommodate six studio and six cluster flats has also been given conditional permission. In Coach Drive, Eastwood, the change of use from a beauty salon to retail unit for hire of wedding attire has also been approved via a delegated decision from the council.

In the Greasley ward, at Giltbrook Retail Park, five adverts on the front elevation have also been given the go-ahead. Finally, in Nottingham Road, Nuthall, there will be external alterations to create a new shopfront, after the changes were approved by Broxtowe Borough Council.

A new car park layout, including the provision of EV charging spaces, a new substation and bin store, cycle parking, landscaping and associated works (including outdoor seating) will now be provided by applicant Blakemore Property Litd.
